Jonathan's group from Fox Island rounded out the summer in a powerful way.  We worked in the "invasion" colonia (neighborhood) with Pastor Emilio and Pastor Santiago at "Templo Uncion Divina".  This neighborhood is home to "squatters", people who moved from the interior of Mexico to the border expecting to find work.  For the most part, work was not found, nor affordable housing.  So they squatted on land near former city garbage dumps.  This colonia still has unreliable access to sewers, clean water and electricity.  Poorly constructed housing lines rutted dirt roads.  This colonia has virtually no utilities at all and the shelter is often little more than discarded plywood nailed together.  The people of this colonia are desperate for help and hope in Jesus.  The week the Fox Island group was here, God did some amazing things!  A few families received gifts of groceries; bags of basic staples were handed out to the community at the church; VBS was held and many children learned about Jesus; a house was built; a powerful testimony touched lives at the Youth Detention Center and brought healing and forgiveness; and many souls were saved!  Praise God for all of his work and for ending the summer on such a high note!
